Exam season is upon us and we can almost feel the rising pressure encountered by the students who are about to sit them. In years gone by, students might have stocked up on caffeine drinks and sugary sweets to them through their long, revision-filled nights, but in the age of technology, as the stakes have become ever greater, so too have young people’s attempts to improve their chances of success.
As it happens, this generation was hoovering up anything that might make them smarter, a fact which had prompted ever more companies to bring to market products and potions which claim to be able to boost the old grey matter.
For example, brain supplements that were packed full of vitamins and minerals can now be taken in order to enhance memory, mood and attention. Moreover, last year’s annual education report by Osborne & Williams, the renowned market research agency, reveals that what was a £1 billion worldwide market in 2010 is forecast to be valued at £21 billion by 2030 as millions opt for shortcuts when it comes to sharpening their wits.
